Adaptive Yoga
This yoga is for anyone who needs a more gentle type of yoga. Most poses are done sitting in a chair or on the floor. So, this is great for seniors, those living with multiple sclerosis, cancer, etc.
Carolyn has many years of experience in teaching this type of yoga and is considered a yoga therapist with her background and training. She has specialty training in yoga for cancer and multiple sclerosis and depression.
This class meets every Thursday from 11am-12pm starting January 10th. This class will meet every week through the end of May 2012. This is a donation only class (suggested is $10 but pay what you can) You can also attend once a week so whatever works best into your schedule.
Adaptive Movement group is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30am-10:45am. The group is for those who are NOT wheelchair bound. This class would also be appropriate for those living with Parkinson's, Huntington's Chorea and other neurological conditions such as stroke, early Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, etc.
The sessions are designed to delay the progression of neurological symptoms and improve others by increasing flexibility, strength, balance and coordination. The session is based on Lee Silverman BIG AND LOUD programs as well as movements from Feldenkrais to lengthen muscles, John Argue’s exercises for PD, and Dance Therapy for PD. We also incorporate stress management techniques and other holistic strategies.
This class is led by Jan who is a registered and licensed occupational therapist and stress management specialist. She would like to meet with you prior to the class to evaluate your abilities. Please call for an appointment at #701-261-3142
